I just moved to Denver from out of state and was overdue for some servicing of my 12 year old FJ Cruiser. I wanted a local shop who I could trust to be consultative, honest, fair in price, communicative, and efficient. Hotchkiss is exactly that. I called them as a new customer and they were able to get me in for a routine maintenance, brakes/rotors, and electrical diagnostics appointment within a few days. Dropoff was a breeze, and they called/texted me with their findings and explained exactly what services/parts they recommend, no upsells whatsoever, and ran the cost by me before proceeding (shoutout to Shelby, she rocks). My car was ready by EOD, at which point they provided a very detailed inspection report, a full itemized receipt of all charges (all updated on carfax), and sent me on my way. I wouldn’t say I ever “look forward” to car maintenance, but this is probably as close as I’ll get. Great to know there’s a place down the street from me I can trust.

Brought in my older Subaru to see what was going on. Shelby was very detailed and helpful in understanding what repairs needed to be made and when. They also went above and beyond to try and keep my repair within warranty from out of state. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a mechanic in Denver!

I recommend Hotchkiss to anyone needing a car repair. They are helpful and honest. They always try to get the best prices for parts and often tell me which repairs I can wait on to save money. My service advisor for my most recent repair was Shelby. She went out of her way to find cheaper options for an expensive part that I needed and was helpful and communicative through the whole process!

While at Schomp Hyundai for some warranty work, I was presented with a long list of services needed to the tune of $2300 dollars. At Hotchkiss I received a comprehensive vehicle evaluation for $104 and as suspected, my vehicle was in tip-top shape and absolutely no repairs were necessary! I will return to Hotchkiss for all future service needs and will tell friends and family members about this honest, friendly and comfortable shop in a convenient Denver location. The staff here were friendly and pleasant to deal with so no complaints on customer service. Unfortunately the actual repair experience left a lot to be desired. I brought my car in for a check engine light caused by a small EVAP leak. They ran diagnostics and quoted me about $600 to fix it. I'm not a car person, so I trusted their recommendation. It turned out all they actually replaced was an electrical sensor, something that could've been done at home in under an hour for $100–200 in parts (which isn’t even the reason I am upset). 2 days after I picked up the car, the exact same check engine light came back on. I brought it back in, and after a ~2-week wait for them to get to it, I was told I now needed a separate ~$800 repair. Their explanation was that something unrelated happened that caused a part to break in the two days between getting the car back and the check engine light coming back on (where I barely drove), coincidentally triggering the identical light. That's a hard coincidence to believe. It seems far more likely they either missed the real issue the first time or damaged something during the initial diagnostic. To make it worse, they also mentioned on this second call that the leak itself doesn't damage the engine, information that would have been useful before I paid $600 to fix this useless sensor. If they had quoted me for both the sensor and the actual leak fix upfront, I would have just paid to fix the actual leak and handled the sensor myself — or at least had a conversation about which one actually mattered. All told: three weeks, four trips (about $70 in Uber rides), $600 spent, and I'm still stuck with the original problem. In hindsight I would've been better off just taking it to the dealer and getting it fixed right the first time.
